Jody Emerson Bio
Hello, my name is Jody Emerson and I am the Director of the Central Vermont Career Center and Superintendent of the Central Vermont Career Center School District. I have a deep and personal commitment to technical education as many of my family members, including my son, have experienced success as a direct result of their technical education programming opportunities.
I grew up in Newbury, VT, and attended Middlebury College earning my BA in History and Secondary Education. I later earned a Master’s in School Leadership at St. Michael’s College and more recently earned a second master’s from the International Institute of Restorative Practices. My first full-time teaching position was at Spaulding High School back in 1999. In 2013, I left teaching to become an Assistant Principal, and later Associate Principal, at U-32 Middle & High School in East Montpelier, VT. I was excited to return to Barre and to serve the students of both communities in which I have worked. I look forward to working collaboratively with program teachers to continue to promote a positive climate of learning and growth while working in partnership with school leaders throughout Central Vermont to meet the needs of our youth. I am also excited to continue the work of our former Director in moving forward with expanding our program offerings and strengthening community partnerships.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, camping, swimming, and reading. You may see me biking to work on my e-bike. My son is a member of a NASCAR Xfinity team and I try to visit one new race track each year. He lives in North Carolina and so I share my home with my four cats (one of which belongs to my son)!
