For years the Central Vermont Career Center functioned under the thoughtful supervision of the Spaulding High School Board and the Barre Unified Union School District Board. On Town Meeting Day in 2022, our communities voted 7493 votes yes, 1688 votes no to support the creation of a new "Central Vermont Career Center School District," also known as the CVCCSD!
Starting in the 2022-2023 school year, our school will operate as its own school district under the leadership of our newly elected school board members...

Jody Emerson, Director & CVCCSD Superintendent
Hello, my name is Jody Emerson and I am the Director of the Central Vermont Career Center. I have a deep and personal commitment to technical education as many of my family members, including my son, have experienced success as a direct result of their technical education programming opportunities.
I grew up in Newbury, VT, and attended Middlebury College earning my BA in History and Secondary Education. I later earned a Master’s in School Leadership at St. Michael’s College and more recently earned a second master’s from the International Institute of Restorative Practices. My first full-time teaching position was at Spaulding High School back in 1999. In 2013, I left teaching to become an Assistant Principal, and later Associate Principal, at U-32 Middle & High School in East Montpelier, VT. I am excited to return to Barre and to serve the students of both communities that have welcomed me. I look forward to working collaboratively with program teachers to continue to promote a positive climate of learning and growth while working in partnership with school leaders throughout Central Vermont to meet the needs of our youth. I am also excited to continue the work of our former Director in moving forward with expanding our program offerings and strengthening community partnerships.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, camping, swimming, and reading. You may see me biking to work on my e-bike. My son is currently attending UNOH and so I share my home with my two cats!
Hannah Leland, Assistant Director
Hello! My name is Hannah Leland and I am the Assistant Director for Central Vermont Career Center. I am a huge supporter of technical education as I see this as not only an alternative pathway, but a necessary pathway for every student's future. I truly believe in the importance and value of technical education as I come from a skilled family of builders.
I grew up in North Haverhill, New Hampshire and traveled across the river to Newbury where I currently reside with my husband and daughter. I attended Lyndon State College earning my Bachelor's in Journalism and after a few years of travel began and completed my Master's in English Education at Plymouth State University. After working as an English teacher for several years, I transitioned to Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment at the Hartford Area Career and Technology Center. With the guidance and support of my Tech. Director, I transitioned to the Dean of Students at Woodstock Union High School Middle School where I have been for the past six years. Always itching to get back to Tech. Education, I was thrilled to see the Assistant Director position at CVCC and when offered the position jumped at it. I am so thrilled to be in technical education where I look forward to supporting students and educators and further developing the strong programs I know that exist at CVCC.
In my free time, I serve as a volunteer on the Board of Directors for the North Haverhill Fair, help by volunteering and sometimes coaching my daughter in her various sports programs and am working to begin our family cabinetry business.
